Im disappointed. cause R.E didnt make it to top 10. i think they only lost by tht LITTLE bit to melvin and sharon. ohwell, next hope is to see them back in wildcard round. alot wld surely wan to see them back in the competition. like what reports says, they wld reveal their faces if they continue to progress on in this competition. wldnt it be a waste to let them go? YES.
WHO IS R.E: First impressions: This hip hop duo remind us of the uppity artsy masked dancers in that ambitious flick The Banquet, only that they aren’t quite so daft. In fact, they aren’t even daft at all. We like how resolutely mule-headed they are about not wanting to speak through their masks, right down to miming all their promotional spots (BUT they will reply to email with email though. For the record, they are just good friends). We can think of a few merits of masking yourself, like shaming yourself and knowing you can get away with it, but R.E. is buying none of that nonsense. To the contrary, they will blow you away, and leave you wondering why they’re disowning all that credit by wearing masks. Don’t bump into these masked folks at night is what we say, it might give you the B-grade cabaret chills.
Why the masks? “The reason for us wearing masks is so that we can remove barriers (like age, gender etc) between the audience and us as well as for aesthetic (purposes),” says Elson as he divulges the reason behind their masked, never-before-seen mugs. Their inspiration came from an incident where they were all masked up and practicing their moves when a mother and her three children walked by and ended up trying to mimick their moves. If this seems as unthinkable to you as it did to us, think again: Elson and Rebecca both had masks on then. “By wearing masks, it would be a good way to share our dance experience as well as our passion with people of all ages.”
So the masks really didn’t come from worrying that people will critique their performance based on their looks? “We’re definitely not afraid that people will base their critiques based on our looks. We’re prepared for anything that comes our way. We’re not that bad looking, eh?” says Elson, adding a ‘cheesy grin’ note at the end. Well, it’s kinda hard to imagine a cheesy grin on a face you’ve never seen before…
Will we ever see their real faces? Elson promises a facial striptease if people vote voluminously for them. Otherwise you might never know who you really voted for! “We’ll reveal our faces slowly as the competition proceeds. So please vote for us if you would like to see the faces behind those masks”
Liberate dance from all barriers, including the past True to their broad unprejudiced perspective on sharing dance with all sorts of people, R.E. also say they have no specific dance influences. “We gain most of our inspiration from watching dance performances.“
Who they think will give them a run for their money “I think our strongest competitors now will be ourselves.”
"im not cool. i just think that being cool is so uncool."
